I know a lot of Jenny's.

so....

not sure why Blogger wants to underline everything I write....

...I guess it's that important. ;)

But it's true-

I do know a lot of Jenny's.

at least 7.

And 2 of them are connected to this video somehow.

haha!

I do not know why, but my sound and my video are way off... blast...

See Jennie? I bought skinny jeans. Not jeggings. just wanted to let you know. ;)

And so I bought a unicorn... so I could pet it.

First of all, if you have not seen Despicable Me, go put it in right now.

Second.

You know how I'm going to be a rockstar someday?

Well,

baby girl got herself a new guitar. :)

Yes boys and girls, take a look at a future rockstar's first 6-string.

I got it yesterday and we've basically been inseparable ever since.

I'm kind of ridiculously happy. :)

Instruments I play so far:
  • Piano (my first and greatest! love it. :) )
  • Flute (haha- I have some good stories with this one!)
  • Ukulele (my island blood said it was bound to happen someday)
  • Guitar (which was also bound to happen because I've recently discovered that my dad played in a band... HAHA! love it. :) )
life is good. family is better. :)

bangs. need to be cut. NOW.

So I realized why Lake Powell and I get along so well.

It's because we have similar color schemes. :)

...that might be what we call destiny. ;)

And by the way,

my nail polish right now is dark purple.

Like they say at McDonald's:

i'm lovin it. :)

Two. Dos. Lua. Er. french word for "two" that sounds like dwa. so it's probably something like doi. cause doi rhymes with moi which is spelled m-o-i.

Well, I told you all about how I was applying for graphic design.

I also posted my whole portfolio on my blog.

So I feel like if I just don't say anything at all then I'll have people wondering.

So I feel like I should tell you

that I didn't get in.

yeah, ok, sure. fine. I did cry a little bit.

Cause I WAS upset.

But now,

I'm fine.

Like I'm not going to go proclaim it to the world,

but if someone asks me about, I have no problem telling it like it is.

Now,

it's full speed to round two.

I'm applying again in March.

Deadline is the 15th.

Graphic Design?

bring it on.

One.

Ben Barnes = so. attractive.

Narnia 3: Let me tell you. I saw numero uno and loved it. Saw Prince Caspian and LOVED it. absolutely. Just saw #3 today and OH. MY. FREAK. absolutely amazing. I mean, I was blown away. The credits came on and I couldn't move. Maybe that's just me. In fact, it probably is. But I absolutely loved it.

ANYWAY.

Guess what?

I'm in an art show. :)
My cousin took this picture, and I haven't actually seen it in person, but when I do, expect another pic! Also, another picture of me with my OTHER piece in the show.

Yes, I have 2 pieces in an art show.

Floating on cloud 9?

...just a wee bit. ;)

My epic battle wounds came. :)

Hey.

I know you're dealing with some pretty tough stuff right now. So listen.

You are ok. Life is good. You're not a failure, you're not a bad person, you do have hope. You've got people rooting for you, and I can tell that you have the desire to climb higher. I see it. So you just keep doing those things that the Lord wants you to do. You know that everything's going to work out in the end. I know you hear that a lot, but don't blow if off because you know it's true. I know that this is hard for you to deal with right now, but that's for a few reasons. #1: To test you and allow you to grow. #2: Because Satan puts forth more effort to bring down the righteous and hinder the most worthy causes. So. Instead of letting the difficulty slow you down or cause you to retreat back into your safe zone (where no growth or progression happens), use it to push through this trial in spite of the "cunning plan of the evil one." Embrace the pain and difficulty and let it only motivate you to overcome this obstacle. Just keep going.

Just do it.
Welcome to the Valley of Fire. :)

2 epic falls. No epic battle wounds. What is this?

Some people watch America's Next Top Model for the photography.

(which is absolutely awesome, by the way)

Me?

I watch Shake It Up! on Disney Channel for the dancing. :)

love. that. show.

Also:

1: Firework Design is not a permanent name. just fyi.

2: This baby's going to be in an art show. :)

life? life is stressful. But...

life is good. :)

Jake Parker = awesome artist!

ok 1st of all:

BABY YOU'RE A FIIIIIIIIIIIREWORK!!

love that song. It's stuck in my head right now. :)

Second.

application to graphic design?

check.

How am I feeling?

terrified. anxious. nervous. excited. absolutely terrified. hopeful.

basically I'm holding my breath.

oh gosh. applying/auditioning for majors.

WORST. WAIT. EVER.

yes, worse than Christmas.

I love Christmas. :)

Here's my portfolio.

biggest disappointment... I have this AWESOME drawing that I'm working on, but I wasn't sure if it was going to get done. So I chose a backup just in case. ...this is the backup... I wish I had just left it out. It seemed good at the time. But oh well- it's done now. I'll post the real drawing when it's done. It would've helped me get in WAY more than this one will.

The head of the department liked this one.

And he LOVED this one. My mom loved it too. Enoch, if I get in, I'll buy you pizza. Well... I'll buy us both pizza. :)

I don't love this one, but some BFA students did. If I don't get in, this will be my downfall #2 (#1 being my first one).

Head of dept. liked this one too. I was rather a fan of it. :)

Remember this one? :)

and this one? :) Head and BFA students liked it. BFA student saw it and said, "BEAUTY." Let's hope my judges agree. Michael and Elise, this one was dedicated to you. :)

How about this one? :) The Head liked this one too.

BFA student liked it... possible downfall point #3. They want a variety of media. Don't worry, I'm still trying to be hopeful!

My latest 2D Design project. My best piece I've turned in for that class. ...actually, I just turned it in today... (it may have been due a few weeks ago...) But I got 9.5 out of 10 on the assignment! I had another collage to go with it, which also contributed to the 9.5. But that one may have been the reason for the half-point deduction. It was good, but my teacher LOVED this one! She even put it on the board today! Which is kind of a big deal in that class. ;) haha! And she talked about me to some girls in my class after she put it up! Totally made my day. :)

This. took. me. forever. The reason why my clincher drawing didn't get done. I had 8 hours to finish this and my drawing, and this took me 7.5 hours. 7.5 HOURS. I was hitting some creativity walls... but everyone applying to graphic design and illustration has to do this. Each square had a different line in it and we had to do something with it. I'm happy with it. :)

cross ya fingers. :)

The Santa ClausE. Definitely a Christmas classic. :)

Whatchu know about me?

I can talk.

A LOT.

except not when I'm shy, but that's another story.

My brain?

You wouldn't last a day in there.

It's a rugged, twisting land of anything.

everything.

Often jumping from one island to the next without bridges.

Needless to say, I have a lot to say.

But sometimes,

it's not a matter of choosing what to say,

but choosing to say nothing

at all.

...it's Christmas time. :)

We like to read blogs.

Red Hair

Bri: Hey guys, there's a red car out there that got saran-wrapped.
Stephanie: Chelsea... there's a red car out there that got saran-wrapped...
*5 minutes later*
Chelsea: Guys, what if it's my car?
Stephanie: Well I'm sure they didn't do my car. They wouldn't dare.
Bri: There's also a black Excursion-
Stephanie: WHAT?!
*Chelsea and Stephanie run outside*

Chelsea's.

Jeanie's.

Mine.

Emily is my favorite roommate. I should now be $5 richer.

Dear Jen-AY.

Here is that picture I edited. Not much, but I like it. I may do a few more. Also, I wish I was on my way to Idaho in 2 days, but I will see you in a few weeks. YAY! If you do go see Benton Paul, you'll have to tell me what you think. He's pretty awesome in person. Also, he sang us this new song called Time which isn't on iTunes yet, but it was my favorite of the night. basically. Love you!! :)

awesome. :)

A few weeks ago, I made a decision.

"I'm going to make a decision. I've made my decision. Decision made." name that movie. :)

I am no longer aiming to be a photography major...

big news, yeah?

At first I was thinking that I wasn't going to apply at all, but now I'm thinking I might (I can apply for 2 at the same time)... hmm. dunno.

But long story short,

I am now applying to be a graphic design major.

Wish me luck. :)

Also, I'm kinda behind on blogging my art projects para mi classes. so.

This assignment deals with complementary color schemes. 2 pictures, one with vibrant colors, one with subdued colors. I was originally doing blue and orange, hence this picture...

...but, long story short, I never got a second picture. So I ended up doing red and green. This and the previous picture were taken a long time ago in my back yard.

This was taken in Disneyland in October of 2008- the same trip when I met Jack Sparrow. Dreams come true. ;) The back of the train was actually more blue, but I tried to make it more green... hope it works. And I'm learning how to do cool things on Photoshop. :)

Benton Paul. Taylor Swift. I love new music. :)

Dear Kai-Dawg.

I miss you, buddy.

Can we please play soon?

You can come visit me.

Or I can come visit you.

You're like my little sunshine, dude.

I can only imagine the love your parents, earthly and heavenly, have for you.

Don't forget Aunt Stephanie,

Green Blankets + Alarms = 6:00 AM

See...

...not as cool.

BUT.

We have to make a bigger version of one of these

(they're currently 11" x 15" and we have to make them 22" x 30")

and I'm making mine like the cool one posted below.

get excited. :)

in the meantime, here are my other 2 paintings:

I kinda hate this one. I just like the graffiti S in the middle and the squares on the side.

Hated this one, but then kept adding more stuff and it turned out ok. I'm sufficiently happy with it.

it's my birthday. ;)

Ok, I got excited.

I'm currently working on a series of 3 paintings of... random shapes?

I don't know.

BUT... I saw my opportunity to incorporate graffiti.

so,

bam. :)
Sorry, this is the coolest one. The other two will still have a graffiti letter in the middle which is wicked awesome, but I think this one is going to be the best.

I love life. :)

...and so I went and let you blow my mind. :)

I learn lessons.

One of them is

that there is no such thing

as coincidence.

love this. :)

Clean room. Hey Soul Sister. x's 2. Free Ice Cream. Samoa. today? amazing. :)

so.

I had a job.

Job #1.

Then Job #1 went under a wee bit...

I had been working about 10 hours a week with school, and summer was coming.

I was told I would be getting about the same amount of hours during the summer.

not ideal.

Enter Job #2.

Interviewed for Job#2. sucked. First job interview of my life. Ended up getting the job anyway because some people declined.

Job #2- what a ride. :)

August of 2010: got laid off from Job #1. Company actually closed a couple weeks later. New company formed, but it was still in beginning stages. Not enough work for Stephie.

Job #2: ended up working there longer than initially intended, which worked out really well. I had planned on working Job #1 during the school year (even when I told Job #2 I would work past the summer. Job #2 had more security, so it was more preparatory than anything), but that was no longer a possibility. So to have Job #2 continue through the school year was a very good thing.

rumors of Job #2 dying out in my future...

Then one day (September 21) I was informed that due to my crazy class schedule causing somewhat of a lack of availability as well as call volume dropping, I was going to be laid off either Sept. 28 or Oct. 1.

great.

So, job hunt.

aka: more interviews would come my way.

joy.

Enter today, when sister calls me.

long story short, I'm getting Job #1 back. :)

Last day at Job #2: tomorrow night. First day of Job #1: tomorrow morning.

Someone's watching over me. :)

Life?

life is good. :)

you'll be in my heart...

Art classes = exhausting. Chrisanne, you are like my hero. Here are some of my assignments!

So. Contour Drawing. We had to draw 3 organic objects and 3 inorganic objects (hence: my shoes). We hung our best drawing on the wall in class the day they were due and my teacher wanted to talk about them at the end of class. He only had time for 3. I wasn't a huge fan of mine, and was hoping he wouldn't get to it, but of course, it was the last one he talked about!

Him: "Whose is this one?"
Me: "Mine."
Him: "Did you do one of these blind?"
(valid question, blind contour drawings are a real thing that we did in class)
Me: "No, some of them just turned out better than others..."
I thought my flip flops were fine, my one heel was AWESOME, and the other I messed up on, and then one of my sneakers was good, and I thought the other one looked like a dead banana. Guess which one.
Him: "What do you think about the sneakers?"
Me: "I think it looks like a dead banana."
Him: "Well actually, I like it."

He then proceeded to tell me how it reminded him of this artist that has done stuff for the New York Times (and other famous stuff, I think...) because she purposefully distorts things she draws. He kinda went on and on about it. It. was. awesome. :)

For my 2D Design class, we had to make 3 collages (with this paper that we painted in class) inspired by the Quilts of Gee's Bend. They're basically pre-civil war quilts that these ladies made and sold to help support their families. Apparently, they're kind of a big deal in the art world. You can Google it. But here are my collages. This one is my second favorite. :)

Least favorite... but still ok. These 3 had to be related to each other somehow.

FAVORITE. :)

These next 3 deal with color. I stayed up until 2:00am working on these. This one is an analogous color scheme- 2 colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.

Anomaly: Introduce a new color. Has a dramatic effect.

Bridge Tones: Add a color to lessen the intensity of the anomaly. My teacher thought that a lot of our bridge tones didn't work so well... I talked to her about mine and she said it worked fine. yes! But she did give it back to me so I could improve it- basically I need to add more bridge tones, and she'll give me a higher grade! She hasn't graded it yet though so I don't know what it would have originally gotten.

SIR. STUPIDHEAD. I hated this head. So much. hence: Sir StupidHead. We had to draw this for my drawing class, hence one of my previous posts. Hardest assignment I've ever been given. We had to block it out first and kind of carve our way through it- this was a progress report that I texted to my sister when we were watching Baby Mama (she's in another state, but we watched it at the same time. and also texted quotes to each other the whole time. purely awesome.). LOVE that movie. :)

The finished product. Worked on it until 1:00am. I'm thinking D material. He's going to put the real thing over our drawings to see how accurate we were. He's also going to hate my shading. But everything's good because it's out of my life. life is good. :)
