but I still love technology, always and forever. :)

post two-hundred and twenty-one.

221.

it's my birthday. ;)

Ok, I got excited.

I'm currently working on a series of 3 paintings of... random shapes?

I don't know.

BUT... I saw my opportunity to incorporate graffiti.

so,

bam. :)
Sorry, this is the coolest one. The other two will still have a graffiti letter in the middle which is wicked awesome, but I think this one is going to be the best.

I love life. :)

...and so I went and let you blow my mind. :)

I learn lessons.

One of them is

that there is no such thing

as coincidence.

love this. :)

Clean room. Hey Soul Sister. x's 2. Free Ice Cream. Samoa. today? amazing. :)

so.

I had a job.

Job #1.

Then Job #1 went under a wee bit...

I had been working about 10 hours a week with school, and summer was coming.

I was told I would be getting about the same amount of hours during the summer.

not ideal.

Enter Job #2.

Interviewed for Job#2. sucked. First job interview of my life. Ended up getting the job anyway because some people declined.

Job #2- what a ride. :)

August of 2010: got laid off from Job #1. Company actually closed a couple weeks later. New company formed, but it was still in beginning stages. Not enough work for Stephie.

Job #2: ended up working there longer than initially intended, which worked out really well. I had planned on working Job #1 during the school year (even when I told Job #2 I would work past the summer. Job #2 had more security, so it was more preparatory than anything), but that was no longer a possibility. So to have Job #2 continue through the school year was a very good thing.

rumors of Job #2 dying out in my future...

Then one day (September 21) I was informed that due to my crazy class schedule causing somewhat of a lack of availability as well as call volume dropping, I was going to be laid off either Sept. 28 or Oct. 1.

great.

So, job hunt.

aka: more interviews would come my way.

joy.

Enter today, when sister calls me.

long story short, I'm getting Job #1 back. :)

Last day at Job #2: tomorrow night. First day of Job #1: tomorrow morning.

Someone's watching over me. :)

Life?

life is good. :)

you'll be in my heart...

Art classes = exhausting. Chrisanne, you are like my hero. Here are some of my assignments!

So. Contour Drawing. We had to draw 3 organic objects and 3 inorganic objects (hence: my shoes). We hung our best drawing on the wall in class the day they were due and my teacher wanted to talk about them at the end of class. He only had time for 3. I wasn't a huge fan of mine, and was hoping he wouldn't get to it, but of course, it was the last one he talked about!

Him: "Whose is this one?"
Me: "Mine."
Him: "Did you do one of these blind?"
(valid question, blind contour drawings are a real thing that we did in class)
Me: "No, some of them just turned out better than others..."
I thought my flip flops were fine, my one heel was AWESOME, and the other I messed up on, and then one of my sneakers was good, and I thought the other one looked like a dead banana. Guess which one.
Him: "What do you think about the sneakers?"
Me: "I think it looks like a dead banana."
Him: "Well actually, I like it."

He then proceeded to tell me how it reminded him of this artist that has done stuff for the New York Times (and other famous stuff, I think...) because she purposefully distorts things she draws. He kinda went on and on about it. It. was. awesome. :)

For my 2D Design class, we had to make 3 collages (with this paper that we painted in class) inspired by the Quilts of Gee's Bend. They're basically pre-civil war quilts that these ladies made and sold to help support their families. Apparently, they're kind of a big deal in the art world. You can Google it. But here are my collages. This one is my second favorite. :)

Least favorite... but still ok. These 3 had to be related to each other somehow.

FAVORITE. :)

These next 3 deal with color. I stayed up until 2:00am working on these. This one is an analogous color scheme- 2 colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.

Anomaly: Introduce a new color. Has a dramatic effect.

Bridge Tones: Add a color to lessen the intensity of the anomaly. My teacher thought that a lot of our bridge tones didn't work so well... I talked to her about mine and she said it worked fine. yes! But she did give it back to me so I could improve it- basically I need to add more bridge tones, and she'll give me a higher grade! She hasn't graded it yet though so I don't know what it would have originally gotten.

SIR. STUPIDHEAD. I hated this head. So much. hence: Sir StupidHead. We had to draw this for my drawing class, hence one of my previous posts. Hardest assignment I've ever been given. We had to block it out first and kind of carve our way through it- this was a progress report that I texted to my sister when we were watching Baby Mama (she's in another state, but we watched it at the same time. and also texted quotes to each other the whole time. purely awesome.). LOVE that movie. :)

The finished product. Worked on it until 1:00am. I'm thinking D material. He's going to put the real thing over our drawings to see how accurate we were. He's also going to hate my shading. But everything's good because it's out of my life. life is good. :)

Country Swing Dance + Clogging = Stephanie is happy. :)

postage #2. cause I can. :)

1. My little brother is a stud. Well, they all are. :)

2. Best water on campus? The Tanner Building. I go there every time I get out of my clogging class. Today I was wondering why the water there is so cold. My reasoning?

Business = a cold world.
  • cold, hard cash
  • Countless movies where a guy has a gun aimed at another guy saying, "It's just business."
  • Ebeneezer Scrooge
It just makes sense. ;)

Tug-o-War

So... drawing class.

When this is over, I would like to be able to say, "Drawing class. I HATE it. ...but I love it."

However.

Today, it sucked.

My thoughts?

"Maybe this is how graffiti artists get started. They take a drawing class at some point to build their skill level, and then their teacher tells them to draw a stupid head sculpture thing and they get frustrated and say, 'Screw it- I'm going to go draw on a wall.'"

So in my little "screw this" attitude, I happened to walk by some people who were in Lu'au with me. Then I thought, "Message? Maybe I should bring out my iSLAND wAYS."

aka: be laid back. No more "screw it" stuff.

Maybe I'll go play my ukie today.

:)

(my roommate says, "And then sing my roommate to sleep!" She's sitting next to me, and I have made her fall asleep before playing my ukulele. haha!)

Agua

Adventure of the day:

So I ate lunch with Kristen today. I also had my 2D Design class today, so I was carrying my (somewhat) little drawing board around with me. So we finish eating lunch and go to throw our garbage away. I had my garbage and my phone resting on my drawing board. I went to slide my garbage into the garbage can...

yep. my phone fell in too.

OH my gosh.

haha! I was like in shock for a second! Kristen starts laughing and I just stand there going trying to convince myself that I really did drop my phone into the garbage can! So then I'm like, "Crap!" and stick my arm down there to grab it! Must have been some show for everyone around me, and there were a lot of people. haha! There wasn't a lot of garbage in there, and I couldn't reach my phone, so I had to take the lid off and reach way down to the bottom to grab my phone. Oh man... it was super funny. haha! :)

Little Green Frog.

Sometimes in life,

it's go go go go.

And sometimes, we want to just stop and rest for a second.

Problem is, while we can always choose to slow down,

life doesn't.

So it tends to make us a bit stressed.

But then this is why we have ukuleles.

So Stephanie can remember just why life is so great. :)

And also cute nephews who make you absolutely ecstatic when, as you're walking out the door and you say, "Bye dude!" and point at them, they point back and give you the cutest smile ever. yup. got our own secret handshake and everything. :)
